Henry Snyder High School
Henry Snyder High School is a four-year performing arts public high school located in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Jersey City Public Schools. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 1940.[2]
As of the 2009-10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,055 students and 72 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 14.65.[1]
The school was the 312th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 322 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2010 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 304th in 2008 out of 316 schools.[3] The school was ranked 298th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.[4] Schooldigger.com ranked the school 344th out of 376 public high schools statewide in its 2010 rankings (an increase of 10 positions from the 2009 rank) which were based on the combined percentage of students classified as proficient or above proficient on the language arts literacy and mathematics components of the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA).[5]
Athletics
Henry Snyder High School competes in the Hudson County Interscholastic League (HCIAA), which includes private and parochial high schools in Hudson County. The league operates under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.[6][7]
